Surrey Field Hockey Club was  started in the late summer of 2005 by a dedicated
and motivated group of Field Hockey enthusiasts, led by Sukhminder Singh Sekhon,
who is also the club's founding president to date. Though most of our members live
and work in our beautiful city of Surrey, we have players from other cities like
Vancouver, Richmond, Delta, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Langley and Abbotsford in the
Lower mainland and Fraser Valley areas of Beautiful British Columbia in Canada. The
Club itself is a member of the Vancouver Men's Field Hockey League and plays under
guidelines set by B C Hockey and Field Hockey Canada.

Initially, the club was named as Surrey Field Hockey Club and the teams played under the same banner. It was so named as to be the premier club to represent the City of Surrey in the local Hockey league, and also to promote  Surrey as a Field Hockey destination in North America. Later, when the need to have a team name for our teams was felt, the name  " Surrey Lions "  was adapted. As a Lion is widely respected and accepted as the ruler of it's domain, we felt that the name "Surrey Lions " was apt.

We are also the only club with its own tour bus, and have been to cities like Sacramento, Dallas, Los Angeles,  Yuba City, State of California, Seattle, Toronto, Calgary etc. to participate in their respective tournaments, and have gained respect not only for the team and the club, but also for the city we all represent and whose name we carry so proudly on our jerseys !

If you love Field Hockey and have a Lion in your heart,
you are welcome to be a part of the
" Surrey Lions !"
