July 2008 ~First Surrey Cup Intl. Hockey Tournament Surrey Field Hockey Club and Surrey Lions are hosting the First Surrey Cup Intl. Hockey Tournament on 25th - 27th July 2008. We have teams coming in from all over North America, and it is expected to be one of the best Hockey tournaments in B.C Canada. The tournament is expected to draw large crowds to the Tamanawis Park in Surrey. A number of dignitries, former Olympians, and other Hockey grades have already expressed there willingness to be apart of the tournament. For more info, CLICK HERE.
Guru Nanak Intl. Hockey Tournament Surrey Lions have been specially invited to participate in the Guru Nanak Intl. Hockey Tournament, being held in Los Angeles, California on 4th - 6th July 2008, and team is expected to do well in the tournament.
May 2008 ~ California Cup Tournament Surrey Field Hockey Club and Surrey Lions have been specially invited by the organizers of The Prestigious CAL CUP, which is held in California, U.S.A. Surrey Lions look forward to showing-off their skills in California.
April 2008 ~ Surrey Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan 2008 Surrey Field Hockey Club and Surrey Lions set up a booth during the Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan in Surrey to create an awareness about the club and its activities within the community. Free Icecream was served to approximately 10000 people. We also distributed over 5000 leaflets to the public.The effort of the team mambers was greatly appreciated by the community, and we received a lot of positive feedback. This has given the club a boost to further participate in such community events.
March 2008 ~ BC Hockey League Finals 2008 Surrey Lions finished at the top of their pool in BC Hockey league, and we won all our play-off matches to become BC Hockey Champions in Mens First Division. In a hard-fought final against India Club, the Surrey Lions came up on top, after an end to end battle, which saw the score tied at the end of regular play time. The match was decided by penalty stokes, where the Surrey Lions Goal Keeper - Kulwinder Singh Gill, saved the day for the Lions team, by displaying some excellent goal-tending skills. Dallas Hockey Tournament 2008 Surrey Lions were invited to the First Texas Gold Cup Hockey Tournament in Dallas, Texas. The club finished in Third spot. Spectators in Dallas were treated to some spectacular Hockey by the Surrey Lions, and the participation of the team was highly appreciated.
February 2008 ~ Phoenix Hockey Tournament 2008 Surrey Lions were invited to the Phoenix Hockey Tournament held in Phoenix, Arizona. The club finished a respectable Fourth. The highlight of this tournament was the fact that the Surrey Lions beat the Mexico National Hockey team in its very first match, thus becoming the talk of the entire tournament. |
